The Llibreter 2018 Prize for Other Literatures was awarded today by the Gremi de Llibreters from Barcelona to Agualusa for the novel "A General Theory of Oblivion". This book was published in Catalan under the title "Teoria general de l’oblit ".
Agualusa will participate on the Vida & Arte festival held in Fortaleza, Brazil, from the 21st to the 24th of this month.
"Paradise and other hells", a book of short stories, chronicles and essays, will be released in Portugal this month by Quetzal editors.
The Russian translation of The Queen Ginga is already on sale. The translation was published by the publisher Center of the book Rudomino with the title "Koroleva Ginga i to, kak afrikantsi sozdavali mir". The book was released in early November 2017.

"General Theory of Oblivion" was voted number 1 by Weltempfänger, a list of the best books outside Europe and North America, prepared by LITPROM, a German non-profit association that brings together editors, journalists and literature professionals.
The novel A General Theory of the Oblivion won the Dublin International Literary Award 2017. The annual prize is awarded to a book published in english (original or translated) and it is shared between the writer and the translator, in this case Daniel Hahn. The books are nominated by public libraries around the world to be analyzed by an international jury. It is the first time that a book originally written in Portuguese wins the prize. Mia Couto was among the finalists this year with the book "Confessions of a Lioness", Lídia Jorge was a finalist in 2003 and José Saramago in 1996.
José Eduardo Agualusa will be at the Lisbon Book Fair on June 3, 4 and 15, at 3:30 p.m., at the Quetzal stand.
On June the 10th Agualusa will be the guest of Porto de Encontro, which will take place at the Almeida Garrett Municipal Library, in Porto.

The portuguese book editor Quetzal will launch new editions of the books "The conspiracy", "Rainy season", "Shadow's catalog" and "My father's wives", first published in 1989, 1996, 2003 and 2007 respectively.
The book editor Quetzal launches in May the new novel "The society of the involuntary dreamers", which, according to the publisher it's "a political, satirical and fun fable that challenges and questions the nature of reality, while at the same time advocating the rehabilitation of the dream as an instrument of consciousness and transformation."
